Rotary Club of Metro Koronadal Leads Major Coastal Cleanup in Celebration of Earth Day

April 27, 2024 – In a significant environmental initiative, the Rotary Club of Metro Koronadal, under the leadership of President Denmark Bulan, orchestrated a large-scale coastal and underwater cleanup operation titled “Environmental Conservation & Outreach (ECO)” in Brgy. Tinoto, Maasim, Sarangani Province.

The event saw the participation of 81 volunteers from various private and government agencies including EULAP Software Solutions, complemented by a symposium attended by 43 locals, fostering greater environmental awareness among the community. The dedicated volunteers managed to collect 80 sacks of garbage along the coastal area and an additional 60 sacks were retrieved from underwater by skilled scuba divers from across the SOX region.

This cleanup drive, according to Mr. Bulan, was not only in response to the increasing need for environmental preservation but also as a part of the celebrations for Earth Day, which was observed globally on April 22, 2024. He emphasized the urgency of responding to environmental challenges and encouraged community involvement.

Support for the event extended beyond local organizations, with significant participation from Eulap Software Solutions. Clint Junsay, Vice President for Marketing and Communications at Eulap highlighted the company’s commitment to community and environmental well-being, stating, “We participated in this initiative to affirm that we are more than just a software company; we are active community members. Engaging in such activities reflects our responsibility towards each other and our environment.”

The cleanup event also welcomed notable local personalities, including Crystelle Dylan Parungao, 2023 Mutya ng South Cotabato 3rd Runner-Up, and Glydel Ann Malonosan, 2nd Runner-Up, who both served as ambassadors of EULAP. Their involvement helped highlight the event and inspire more community members to take active roles in environmental conservation.

Mr. Junsay expressed hope that the efforts put forth in the ECO project would ignite a continuous drive among locals to care for their surroundings. He also extended gratitude towards the Rotary Club of Metro Koronadal for their crucial role in the initiative and looked forward to further collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing corporate community engagement in the future.
