Rotary Club of Metro Koronadal Leads Major Coastal Cleanup in Celebration of Earth Day April 27, 2024 – In a significant environmental initiative, the Rotary Club of Metro Koronadal, under the leadership of President Denmark Bulan, orchestrated a large-scale coastal and underwater cleanup operation titled “Environmental Conservation & Outreach (ECO)” in Brgy. Tinoto, Maasim, Sarangani Province. The event saw the participation of 81 volunteers from various private and government agencies including EULAP Software Solutions, complemented by a symposium attended by 43 locals, fostering greater environmental awareness among the community. The dedicated volunteers managed to collect 80 sacks of garbage along the coastal area and an additional 60 sacks were retrieved from underwater by skilled scuba divers from across the SOX region. This cleanup drive, according to Mr. Bulan, was not only in response to the increasing need for environmental preservation but also as a part of the celebrations for Earth Day, which was observed globally on April 22, 2024. He emphasized the urgency of responding to environmental challenges and encouraged community involvement. Support for the event extended beyond local organizations, with significant participation from Eulap Software Solutions. Royeca Hospital, Marbel Boy, Cloud Visuals, Sean Studios, and Allah Valley Medical Specialists’ Center, Inc. Hospital. Louie Parcardo, the creator behind Marbel Boy, expressed his appreciation for the project, highlighting the value of multi-sectoral collaboration for a unified purpose. “What I like most about Project CARE is that it brings together different sectors to work towards a common goal,” Parcardo noted. SPEED IT Inc Engages in the UNBOXING Hackathon: SarGen Startup Challenge
On May 10, 2024, the UNBOXING Hackathon: SarGen Startup Challenge was launched by the ICEBOX TBI (Technology Business Incubator) at Mindanao State University-General Santos, in partnership with DICT SarGen and other regional stakeholders. This significant event, held at the ICEBOX TBI Event Space, drew a diverse group of participants from various educational institutions across the region, emphasizing a strong commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Southern Philippines. The hackathon commenced with opening remarks from Chancellor JD Usman D. Aragasi, MPA, which set an energetic tone for the participants. Ronald Velasques from the General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry introduced the key industry challenges, encouraging participants to develop innovative solutions. Representatives from SPEED IT (Southern Philippines Educators and Entrepreneurs Development for Information Technology, Inc.), including Eulap’s VP for Marketing and Communications serving as a judge, actively participated in the event, highlighting SPEED IT’s role in nurturing technological innovation and entrepreneurship. This involvement underlines the organization’s commitment to supporting the tech community and advancing technology in the region. The ‘Imagineers’ team from MSU-GenSan emerged as the champions, with A and BH eRealtor from Notre Dame of Marbel University and Sha-It from SEAIT as the runners-up. These winners will progress to the Regional Startup Hackathon, sponsored by SICAD SOX and DOST Region 12, where they will have the opportunity to refine and develop their ideas further.
